SIDRA BELL is a Master Lecturer at University of the Arts, an Adjunct Professor at Ball State University, was artist in residence at Harvard, an Adjunct Professor at Georgian Court University, and an Adjunct Professor at Barnard. She has a BA in History from Yale and an Choreography MFA from Purchase College. Bell won several awards, notably a 1st Prize for Choreography at the Solo Tanz Theater Festival in Stuttgart, Germany and a NDP Production Award and Production Residency for Dance from NEFA. Her company was one of 25 inaugural recipients of the Dance Advancement Award from Dance/NYC. Her work has been seen in the USA and in Denmark, France, Austria, Bulgaria, Turkey, Slovenia, Sweden, Germany, China, Canada, Aruba, Korea, Brazil, and Greece. Her company was lauded as #1 in Dance by the Pittsburgh Examiner, in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette’s Best in Dance, and in the Year in Review in ArtsATL’s notable performances. Bell has created over 100 new works notably for BODYTRAFFIC, Ailey II, Juilliard, Boston Conservatory, River North Dance Chicago, University of Minnesota, Tisch, Sacramento Ballet, Ballet Austin, Alonzo King’s LINES School, LEVYdance, Robert Moses, METdance, University of Texas, University of Colorado, Visceral Dance Chicago, Point Park, Springboard Danse Montréal, Uppercut Dansteater (Denmark), and Motto Dans Kolectif (Turkey) to name a few. Bell was an ambassador in Bulgaria (made possible by Trust for Mutual Understanding). She collaborated with the acclaimed women’s chorus Karmina Slovenica in Slovenia. The Mayor of White Plains, NY named February 3 SIDRA BELL DAY.
