Dr. Harlene Goldschmidt has been the Director of the Wellness Program for the New Jersey Dance Theatre Ensemble since 2007. She has given presentations and programs on mind/body health for dancers and at national conferences, Montclair State University, and The Juilliard School. Harlene has been interviewed by Dance Magazine, Pointe, and Dance Teacher Now on issues regarding optimizing emotional health, improving personal and professional relationships, communication skills, and performance enhancement. Publications include, “Dancing With Your head On: Mental Imagery Techniques for Dancers,” in the Journal of Dance Education (2002), and she has recently published 2 articles on mind/body unity and clinical Qigong. Dr. Goldschmidt has worked in private practice as a psychologist/psychoanalyst for 30 years. She has 2 post-doctoral degrees in psychoanalysis from the Center of Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis of New Jersey (CPPNJ). As a faculty member of CPPNJ, Dr. Goldschmidt teaches courses on neuro-psychoanalysis and mind/body issues. Harlene is also a certified Level 2 Qigong Therapist. With NJDTE, Harlene teaches Qigong Meditation, which helps dancers increase and balance their internal energy through the use of breath, visualization, and intention. In 2014, Harlene will be teaching at Atlantic Health Care’s Center for Well Being. She will be offering a Continuing Education Program for nurses and other medical staff in Clinical Qigong.
