New Jersey Dance Theatre Ensemble provides tuition-based scholarships in the name of NJDTE’s founding Artistic Director Alfredo Corvino. These scholarships are both a source of financial assistance and a special recognition of the talent, excellence and commitment, evident in the aspiring dancers who receive the scholarship. 

New Jersey Dance Theatre Ensemble’s mission is to provide artistic excellence in pre-professional dance education, with forward-thinking programming that empowers dancers. For over 54 years, NJDTE continues to be an innovative force in the NJ and NYC Metro area by engaging acclaimed artists, international choreographers and providing performance opportunities. NJDTE mentors and inspires dancers toward higher education and supports its alumni as professionals in the field.

NJDTE Scholarship Recipients:

Darwin Black

First recipient of Alfredo Corvino Scholarship Fund. Received fellowship to the Ailey School and dance professionally with Sacramento Ballet, TU Dance, Oakland Ballet, Rioult Dance Theatre, Alaska Dance Theatre, Lustig Dance Theatre, Montgomery Ballet and Nimbus Dance Works, and he toured throughout Europe with Momix. and choreographs for professional companies in the United States.

Conner Bormann

Received a BFA from Juilliard School. Performed with Brice Mousette, Loni Landon, Saarländisches Staatstheatre in Germany, and is currently performing and with Netherlands Dans Theatre.

Zachary Downer

Graduated from the Rock School for Dance. Awarded first place in the contemporary division of the Youth American Grand Prix and featured in “So You Think You Can Dance”. Performed with  Broadway Musical Cats, Hello Dolly, Alice By Heart and on Disney Cruise Lines.

Samuel Asher Kunzman

Graduated from the Ailey/Fordham BFA program. Professional dancer with the Peridance Contemporary Dance Company, BH Dos and Big Muddy Dance Company. Was commissioned by NJDTE to create two new works.
